Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Observation Checklist

Read and interpret installation requirements from job instructions and manufacturers’ installation instructions 
Identify hazards and check risk treatments are in place and operating 
Select and check all required tools and equipment are ready to use, and organise to fix any deficiencies according to workplace procedures 
Plan the work sequence to ensure an efficient, quality installation 
Gather the windows, doors, jacking bolts, shims, packers, fasteners and other materials required by job instructions, and check they meet quality requirements and are prepared and ready to install according to manufacturers’ instructions 
Make, interpret and record accurate measurements using laser levelling devices according to workplace procedures 
Locate or set up a datum point from measurements 
Take readings to the datum point and at nominated stations, according to job instructions 
Make levelling realignment calculations using the correct instrument 
Level and align the glass window or door components according to the manufacturers’ installation instructions and job instructions 
Temporarily fix the glass window or door components in position 
Adjust the temporary positioning for level, and fix the glass window or door in position using appropriate fasteners 
Close down levelling equipment and notify appropriate personnel of the completed installation 
Clean up the work area, identify items for recycling and dispose of waste 
Identify, tag and report any damage to equipment and tools 
Check, clean and do routine maintenance on equipment and tools and store them and unused materials 
Complete task outcome documentation
